Cameron Highlands in Pahang, Malaysia
Soaring over tea fields
Laying like a bright green quilt across the rolling hills of central Malaysia, the tea plantations of the Cameron Highlands offer a visual treat from both above and below. They satisfy more than just the eye: Myriad tea rooms featuring the local brews are dotted throughout the area, and walking trails wind through the green fields. This sweeping, carved landscape is the largest hill station region in Malaysia. Named after the British geologist William Cameron, who mapped the area in 1885, the highlands have long been a rich agricultural resource in Southeast Asia.
What's harvested in these fields produces a drink much of the world considers a daily essential.
