Temple of Athena Lindia, Rhodes, Greece
Rhodes to ruins
The acropolis of Lindos may only be the second-most famous ancient Greek marvel to grace the isle of Rhodes, but it has the advantage of still existing. Unlike the Colossus of Rhodes – a Wonder of the Ancient World raised here in 280 BCE, only for an earthquake to topple it in just half a century – much of the ruined acropolis remains standing. That includes structures predating the Colossus, including the columns of the Temple of Athena Lindia seen here.

More than two millennia ago, this island was briefly home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
