Hjelledalen valley near Stryn, Norway
Hill, dale and Hjelledalen
This deep valley named Hjelledalen is just one example of the extreme topography you'll find in the county of Vestland. Centred around Norway's second city, Bergen, the county is carved with undulating fjords and winding valleys such as this, bounded by steep and spectacular mountains. Hjelledalen lies a little inland from the inner reaches of Nordfjorden, a 106-kilometre channel that nearly transects the whole county, ending not far from the Innlandet border.
